Weather: Warm and windy (no comments please).
Monmouth golf club is such a great place to visit at this time of year.
It is also a popular
venue with the society, having been the venue for our last two Angel Cups. The problem with
our end of season event is we always play when the greens have just been tined, which is a
source of much disappointment amongst members.
June causes different problems with smooth, receptive and challenging
clearly demonstrated by the number of 3 putt fines swelling the coffers of the
Captains charity. The strong wind also put paid to some challengers trying to
“thread the needle” around the course.
Brazier must wish every medal was played here, having won the Angel Cup
here last time
we played the course he held his concentration, despite having to look down at those red
trousers every time he stood over a putt, he carded an excellent 72 to win by 1 one shot from
Vic Hammond and Nev Green.. Robbie “big boy” (he asked me to write that) Davies kept one
on the fairway to win longest drive, but I am afraid I have no idea who won nearest the pin,
though I think I won nearest the bridge on that hole!
have a break until September, when Kim Philbys’ final medal, will be at
Herefordshire, so let’s keep up the support and see you there.
