2011 PAR THREE CHALLENGE
NAILCOTE HALL

23 members and guests gathered at the home of the English National Par Three    Championship course for our end of season event. The social aspect was evident throughout with more accurate play than in previous years as no wayward shots found the railway line, well done Gerry a vast improvement!!

With 23 people each taking 18 tee shots there was one in 414 chance of an expensive “Ace” but, as was the case last year no one was that accurate (or lucky). Pete Dodds success in 2009 remains the only such hole in one.

A 25% handicap restriction was imposed and this allowed the cream to come to the top with the lower handicappers dominating. John Vincent was first with a net 62 on count back from Roy Amphlett and Les Stallard was a deserved third. The best guest was Lol Thompson who also pick up the nearest the pin prize. Of the members Roy also took the plaudits for the fewest puts (25) and Dave Podmore won the novelty trophy for the most…..it was a lot!!

Later that evening the Society hosted a quiz at the newly refurbished Sports Club, well done Miles, in aid of Cancer Research and over 100 people attended for what proved to be a wonderful (and in the end) hazy night!!

The next golf event is on 30 December at Wharton Park, a great opportunity to work the Christmas excesses off.
