Wharton Park - Christmas Medal
December 30th 2011

On the 5th day of Xmas, the Xmas Pershore Golf Society event was held at Wharton Park - 30th December 2011.  It might not have been Bethlehem, but we all went along to try to be crowned Xmas Golf King for 2011.

From the depths of the golf course we could not hear the heavenly angels singing Xmas carols, but a few choice words from those of us who had not picked up our clubs in a few weeks and were rolling around the course, our bellies bloated with Xmas fayre.

Despite our prayers, the heavens opened and rained down upon us, but amongst us there was still some Xmas cheer, particularly for Kevin Lloyd, who scored a net 68 and claimed the Xmas crown, an excellent score and a Xmas miracle in those conditions.

The three wise men were made up by Mike Ciric and Dave Brierley, who claimed frankincense and myrrh for second and third, though there were some logistics problems as Amazon couldn’t deliver the gifts in time!!

Other notable performances were by Martin Ford, affectionately known as Moggy, because he plays with so many strokes, for nearest the pin, also Matt Sailes, who is always too close to the wind and Neville Green whose electric performance gave him the best gross of the day.

    Winner:     Kevin Lloyd
Second:    Mike Ciric
       Third:         Dave Brierley

Best stableford score outside top 3:  Neville Green
 Nearest pin:         Martin Ford
Longest Drive:    Matt Sailes
