Enville - 4th April

Founders Trophy - Medal Day 1

As the clocks sprang forward, thoughts at the Pershore Golf Society turned to warmer days and the first of the four ‘blue-riband’ medals, the Founders Trophy which this year took place at Enville Golf Club.

A good turn out waited expectantly in the club house for our Captain to send us on our way. Unfortunately with Robin’s Sat-Nav, two old coat-hangers and a piece of wire wool, struggling to find Enville and Juan’s guests seemingly closer to Madrid than the course, the first tee was in danger of being missed. Luckily all the wanderers arrived in the nick of time and mostly dressed in the now customary array of almost illegally coloured trousers, particularly our Chairman, we made our way to the start.

There was a brief delay as extra weights had to be attached to Matt as, following a recent two week juicing holiday, the Health and Safety committee feared his new 7st weight may cause him to float away but with all regulations signed off we were on our way.

The course lived up to its reputation and played very well and was a great test for all. Mr Dodd however, felt one part of the course could do with lengthening by richocheting his drive off the ladies tee block back over his head.

With Juan’s guests taking almost as long to play their round as it took them to get there, there was a small delay before the closing ceremonies, Robin actually managing to get through a three course meal and 2 sessions of a test match on the bar tv.

Finally all the scores were in and Mr Kevin Lloyd triumphed with an excellent net 69 with Pete Jolley continuing his great start to the season in second and a rise to the top of the Champion of Champions rankings. Mike Ciric also booked his place at this year’s Angel Cup with a commendable third.

Hopefully after all the travails of everybody finding Enville, all players got home safely, has anybody seen Robin since ?.............................................
