Woodlake Park Golf Club - 28th June 2014
Mackum Medal & Captains Day - Medal Day 3

This year’s Captain’s Day was held on the 28th June at the fabulous Woodlake Park Golf Club. Contesting for the Mackham Medal were 32 of Pershore Golf Societies’ finest members and guests, a fantastic turn out to support Andy Price’s big day.

As we all assembled in the bar for coffee and bacon it was only the locals that commented on the array of ridiculous trousers that have become a standard part of the PGS uniform this year.

Out on the course and as usual Woodlake Park lived up to all we expected it to deliver, great greens, interesting holes and views to die for.

The honors for the day went to Pete Jolley in first place with a very respectable net 74, followed by Andy  Owen in second and Nev Green in third both on 75. Best Stableford  was Vic Hammond who was also nearest the pin on the 16th with Andy Price nearest the pin on the 6

Some special mentions go to the best guest, Mark Roberts who made an Eagle 2 on the 18th after driving the green.  Erle Andrews who hit Pete Jolley’s  trolley With a wayward drive which then smashed into the windscreen of the buggy being driven by the handicap secretary.  Erle also came last in the comp but still managed to get a handicap cut, Vic is checking the stats but he thinks this could be the first member to do so in the 20 years of the society.

The Captain’s charity had another good day, partly due to the lighting quick greens as well as the raffle in his words, the Captain was ‘absolutely gob smacked as to how much we raised,  I believe it will be pushing toward £200
